Welcome to Dubai Land Department! We were created in May 1960 to make sure the real estate sector in Dubai becomes the best in the region and the world.
We do many important things to help people with property. Our job is to make sure buying and selling homes is easy, to create laws for real estate, and to teach people about the real estate business.
Dubai Land Department (DLD) was first called the Land Registry Department in the 1950s. It started by handling property and ownership matters. Then, HH Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, one of the leaders of the UAE, created the Land Affairs Commission, giving it the power to document and check certificates and look at and map properties.
On January 23, 1960, HH Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, a wise and experienced leader, started the Land and Property Department. This was a big step in making Dubai’s real estate sector one of the best in the Middle East and the world.
DLD is part of Dubai’s Executive Council, led by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Our goal is to offer many real estate services, like recording property sales, giving ownership certificates, managing investments, and spreading knowledge about the real estate industry.
In 2013, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, made Law No. (7) 2013. This law says that DLD is in charge of registering, organizing, and promoting real estate investments in Dubai. The goal is to make Dubai a great place for investments and to help the local economy grow.
DLD wants to follow Dubai Government’s plan for the real estate sector and improve how we register land using the latest international methods. This means we have big plans to make sure real estate in Dubai keeps getting better. We want to control and watch over the real estate sector, make better leasing rules, and encourage more investments to help Dubai grow and develop.
